Wish: Recognizing You: Empowering the Magic of Gifts and Talents
Summer Camp 2010 is 12 days away! As a teacher, I always wish to know how to best empower my campers to find the magic of their gifts and talents.
These awards were invented by one of my campers. He has a gift for insight, humor and recognition. He had fun giving these awards away with kindness to his peers. He gave me the most smelly award which I’m fairly certain in boy humor is a compliment (I also got to act like an ape which made everyone laugh)
Art Yowza was recently given an award from the Alameda Education Foundation for bringing innovation into the schools. It was a total surprise! I’m so lucky to live in a community where I can develop my leadership and be self-expressed.

Thanks Jaimie for asking, “What do you wish to know?”
:::
What award would you secretly love to receive? What recognition would you love to give?

Get Inspired Project
Um, like, you know…… I stumbled over my tongue in this 15 minute interview!
The image editor surprised me by picking out the above pic to illustrate my story……
it’s a collaboration between me and two of my after-school students called Flower Power.
Tough questions! I was asked:
1. how do I inspire others?
2. how do I encourage the potential in others?
3. how am I inspired myself ?
4. how do I explore my own potential?
The Get Inspired Project is groovy fun. It’s a treasure trove of wisdom.
Thank you Toni Reece for the laughs!
Tree of Life Party
This inspires me! My friend Lucy Ames sent me this pic of her arts learning bulletin board from her classroom.
Lucy has an amazing art summer camp in El Cerrito, CA called Imagination Kids.
I highly recommend her Famous Artists and Joy of Color Camps.

I love to look at the structure of trees.
Did you know I offer Tree of Life Parties for Adults?

ARt YoWZa Story: Women Wise Marketing Interviews Rebecca

Kelly Watson of Women Wise Marketing interviewed me about ARt YoWZA.
“My name is Rebecca Stees. I’m the owner and director of ARt YoWZA: Bold Creative Fun Camps, Classes And Parties for Kids and Adults.
I started my business five years ago after I was laid off from my job at a non-profit art center due to budget cuts.
I chose this field because I knew I needed to be in a creative community, making art and playing every day. It has made me very happy.
Marketing ARt YoWZA
Marketing is fun for me because it allows me to share my top values: self-expression, reflection, creative fun and innovative productivity. I also like serving my creative community.

What has worked well for me:
-
Exhibiting ARt YoWZA visual art shows, especially the one at two Starbucks locations in Alameda, CA
-
Partnering with the PTAs of local elementary schools by offering them a free event called “Family Fun Night With ARt YoWZA.” Around 200 people attend each event.
-
Hanging posters around town
-
Donating my camps and classes to auctions that benefit kids, especially school auctions. My $300 summer camp donation gets a lot of recognition.
-
Building great word-of-mouth marketing by asking clients for support, ideas and testimonials.
